Alphacypermethrin is a non-systemic insecticide with contact and stomach action. It is a racemic mixture of two isomers of cypermethrin, is photo-stabile and a highly active insecticide belonging to the synthetic pyrethroid group.
Alpha cypermethrin controls most flying and crawling insect pests and is widely used in crop protection on cereals, cotton and fruit, vegetables, flower crops, oilseed, sugar beet, tea, tobacco and vines. It is widely used in public health and as an ectoparasiticide in animal health to control pests of large animals. It is used in the controls of mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, fleas, bedbugs, ticks, lice, mites, beetles, moths, and is available in a variety of formulations, including wettable powders, capsule suspensions, dusting powders, granules, emulsifiable concentrates, ready-to-use products.
It can be used on its own or in combination with other insecticides and the synergist piperonal butoxide that enhances the activity of an insecticide and assists in overcoming metabolic (detoxification) resistance.
