Flumethrin is a non-systemic insecticide with stomach and contact action. It is a photo-stable, synthetic pyrethroid controlling a broad spectrum of insect pests. Its use in crop protection is limited. It is especially effective against animal health ectoparasites on cattle, sheep, goats, horses and dogs It controls ticks, fleas, biting and sucking lice, psoroptic, chorioptic and sarcoptic mange. It is formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate and in dog collars for flea and tick control.
It can be used on its own or in combination with other insecticides and the synergist piperonal butoxide that enhances the activity of an insecticide and assists in overcoming metabolic (detoxification) resistance.
